Google algo update – welcome to Google 2012!

Google shoot themselves in their foot again to satisfy the ‘searchers’. This time its about the layout of the page namely the amount of ads ‘above the fold’. here’s the link:

If the visitor comes to the website and sees mostly ads before they find any content on the webpage, then this is a no-no. Smarter Google mark 2012 can now figure out the ratio of content to ads and punish accordingly.

As it happens many websites use Adsense program so I guess their revenue figures might  be under fire now. Or are they? I’m sure Google would not do something as stupid as cutting themselves off from massive profits, especially in this economy, so how is that going to work now?

Maybe as always this is another smoke and mirrors PR stunt to explain the visitor that they are doing something about their complaints. Maybe the new algo won’t affect Adsense websites at all. Well, check your stats to find out.

Nevertheless this is one of many changes and announcements we should expect in 2012. Should you be afraid? Of course not, they always say what they say and do what they do, rarely the do what they say. Besides the world is scheduled to end this year anyway , so I have much more important things to worry about then Google dance.
